SERENE:
Light to mid to deep tones of blue, blue green, green or lavender.
EARTHY:
More country then city, more warm than cool. Mixtures of forest greens, barn reds, cowhide tans and nut browns are best combined with harvest russets, meadow violets or golden ochres. Autumn leaves, rich, abundance.
MELLOW:
Docile, caring, wistful. Light to mid tones, avoiding contrasts that are dark or bright. Cool tones in the mixture but they veer to warm side. Dominant theme: softness & warmth.
CAPRICIOUS:
Evoke a surprise, but not as blatant as bright colors would command. It's a subtle, yet unexpected use of color.
MUTED:
Similar to mellow, but a mix of warm and cool shades, most often in the mid tones, somewhat "grayed down" and dusky in nature.
SPIRITUAL:
Primarily purples, meditative blues, dusky mauves. ghostly grays and wispy whites. Thought provoking, mystical, explores unknown realms beyond the physical, creating a sense of surreal.
ROMANTIC:
Similar to the mellow palette in feeling, but embraces more pink and lavender tones, red and purple. More charming than sexy, less blatantly sensual than brighter colors from which they came. Think diffused candlelight, a vase of fragrant roses and dinner for two
SENSUAL:
Teases all appetites with its spicy reds, hot purples, succulent oranges, shocking pinks and honeyed dijoned shades that can be teamed with black for added drama. Not the pallette for pale or light tones-must be dark or bright or a deepened mid tone.

POWERFUL:
Many mixtures of colors, but the most powerful is the use of one single symbolic hue combined with black. Black with scarlet, black with purple or royal blue are examples. Additional combinations included variations on black that speak of authority-rock solid charcoal gray or deepest blue. And two more powerful shades from the green family - the color of money and military.
ELEGANT:
Less mighty then the powerful palette, but no less imposing. Onyx black and other darkened tones are important in adding presence adding weight and stability, as are neutral grays and subtle taupes. Metallic golds, silvers, bronzes and coppers may be used for contrast.
ROBUST:
More sophisticated and less rustic version of earth tones. Colors are tasty and tasteful: Rich chocolate browns, full bodied merlots, burgundy and claret wines, plum purples, berry reds. Most juxtaposed against vineyard greens.
DELICATE:
Lightest and most fragile of all of the palettes. A balanced mixture of both warm and cool colors, these tender tines are the easist of all palettes to combine. Blend beautifully with tinted whites or lightened neutrals.
PLAYFUL:
Brights for kid within all of us. A mix of vibrant warms and cools from every color family. Intense vitality, movement, activity, exuberance and joy.
ENERGETIC:
A bit more grown up, but no less active then playful palette. Best expressed by combinations of warm vivid colors. Backgrounds of black or other deepened mid tones or darks can add to the drama and excitement, while a white background can lighten the mood.
TRADITIONAL:
Similar to elegant and powerful pallettes, but leans less heavily on black choosing instead formidable navy and colonial blue, hunter green, burgundy red, cranberry, plum, amber gold, mid to deep gray, taupe and mahogany. If mettalics are used for accent or contrast, they are subtle pewters and burnished gold.

CLASSIC:
The most elemental and non changing. Elements that re ever present in nature-of pepples, rocks, stones, caverns and caves. They symbolize the antiquity of weathered buildings and ancient monuments, sand and sphinx. Neutral tones that go beyond the simplest beiges, grays and taupes. They include the most basic of all----the simplicity of black and white.
FESTIVE:
This dancing kaleidoscope of color is more complex than the brights of the Playful palette. They are often punctuated with deeper accents for added contrast. Confetti, movement, exhilaration.
FANCIFUL:
Not quite as intense as the other bright pallettes, yet lively combinations still command more attention and displays more personality that softer spoken light to mid tones. If contrast is needed, the neutral off whites and cream colors are best as they will not distract form the vibrancy of these happy colors.
COOL:
Mindful of those activities that refresh and replenish- a splash of cool water, a breath of fresh air, the taste of mint.
The colors are found on the cool side of the spectrum, primarily clean and clear, with a hint of warmth in the seafoam greens.
WARM:
Instantly evoke a comfort level related to sunshine. Whites are always creamy and the golden undertones in the combinations suggest an easy going, non invasive mood, similar to the Mellow palette, but even warmer.
LUSCIOUS & SWEET:
Included the confectionary colors that are always thought of as sweet to the taste as well as the eye. Think smoothis and sherberts; ice cream; lattes with mocha; strawberry, blueberry, rasberry and banana creme.
SPICY & TANGY:
When the tempeture is hot and spicy tge colors must turn up the heat. This palette consists of curried yellows, vibrant oranges, fiery purples, salsa reds, guacamole green. Theres a sugary bite to this whimsical group of Life Savers colors.
NATURALS:
Authentic and serene; innate, effortless, and without artifice. "Organic" palette-untreated, health giving, vegetal greens, environmentally correct tones.
